WELCOME TO ST
MARY’S St Mary’s is a parish church serving the eastern side of the city. We endeavour to offer a warm welcome to everyone who attends both our church and community centre. We believe that the way to abundant life is to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. As we gather together each week we seek to worship God, to grow in faith and to live according to Christian principles If you are a visitor, you are most welcome to receive Holy Communion, or, if you prefer, a blessing, at the altar. Our regular patterns of Services are: SUNDAY 10am SUNG EUCHARIST WITH CHILDREN’S CLUB 1st Sunday of the month 8.30am Holy Communion (Said) 10.00am Family Communion 4th Sunday of the month 10.00am Sung Eucharist with healing prayers Refreshments are served each Sunday after the Service,

Sunday service there will be an opportunity to receive prayer. MORNING PRAYER All are welcome to join the clergy team when we gather at 9am in the Lady Chapel at St Mary’s for the Eucharist on Tuesdays and for Morning Prayer on Thursdays and Fridays. QUIET DAY, HEMINGFORD GRAY A quiet day at Hemingford Gray has been booked for Wed 16 July. This will replace our mid-week communion service. Morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea are provided. Please give your names to Collette in the office and we will arrange transport for those wishing to come who do not drive. The cost will be approx. £12. IAN HOUGHTON A special Central Peterborough Ecumenical Partnership
Service to say farewell to Ian as our City Centre Chaplain will be held at 6.30 pm, to be followed by refreshments across the road at All Souls Roman Catholic Church.

CHRISTMAS CRAFTS This event has now been rebranded as St Mary’s Christmas Fayre! & will take place on the 8 November, 1pm-4pm. For those wishing to have a table to sell their wares there will be a charge of £5 (or feel free to share a table) - please book with Collette in the church office. Donations to sell on the St Mary’s craft, cake and preserves stall will be most gratefully received nearer the date; as will donations for raffle and tombola prizes. There will also be a need for help on the day, and a sign up sheet will be put up in the hall at the end of summer. So please put the date in your diary even if you can’t help we would love to see you on the day! Any questions please see Rebecca, Sharon or Nicky. KEYS If anyone has any keys for St Mary’s that you no longer need could you please post them through the letter box so that Collette can collect them? Thank you. CHRISTIAN AID
LUNCHES A reminder that Christian Aid Lunches are available every Friday from 12 noon to 2pm in Westgate Church Hall. The lunches are provided by different churches, and St Mary’s are responsible for 4th and 11th July. Offers of food and/or money would be much appreciated. BIBLE STUDY The next Bible Study will be on Wednesday 2 July from 7.30pm to 9pm in the Chapel. We will be looking at passages from St John’s Gospel; please pick up a bookmark from the table in the Hall. PRAYER GROUP St Mary’s Prayer Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays each month, from 10.30am to 11.30am in the Chapel. The next meeting is on Thursday 3 July. PETERFEST St Peter’s Day itself falls on a Sunday this year and so on Saturday 28 June all of us at the Cathedral would like to invite you to join us for Peterfest, a celebration of Peter’s work and of our mission to continue that work today. Between 12.00 and 3.00pm the Cathedral will be filled with activities, entertainment and exhibitions linked to the life and work of Peter and our Cathedral. Charles Taylor, Dean of Peterborough MICHAEL MOORE – CURATE On Sunday 6 July at 11am Michael Moore, the new curate will be ordained Deacon in Peterborough Cathedral. There will be a said communion service at 8.30 at St Mary’s but no 10 o’clock service that day. You are all invited to the cathedral and all are invited to lunch to welcome Michael and his wife Sue. A sign up list is in the hall, asking for contributions towards the lunch either in the form of money, payable to the churchwardens or to make/buy a pudding. SUSAN ROLFE This is Susan’s last Sunday with us at St Mary’s. Susan will be ordained as Deacon in Peterborough Cathedral on Sunday 6 July at 11am. Susan will serve her title post at Christ the Carpenter in Dogsthorpe. We thank her for her contribution to St Mary’s and wish her well in the next stage of her spirited journey. LAMBETH
CONFERENCE Several bishops from overseas are visiting the Diocese
prior to the Conference, and we are privileged to host Bishop Eliud, from
our link Diocese of Bungoma in GROWING IN
WORSHIP Our Deanery Training Course this autumn will be on the subject of Growing in Worship and will include sessions on leading prayers and praying with others, bringing the bible alive in worship, Daily Prayer, Informal All Age Worship and Youth Worship. The course will take place on Tuesday evenings between 7.30 and 9.00pm starting on 9 September for 5 weeks at St Mary’s church. Refreshments will be served from 7pm.
