The Church of St Mary in Peterborough serves as a place of worship for the people of our parish and as a centre for a range of local community activities.

Journeying Together With God

 

Our main service each week is the Family Communion which takes place on Sunday mornings at 10.00am.  We are an all ages church and everyone is invited to attend.  Any children who wish can take part in our Sunday Club during the service.  We also hold a number of other Prayer and Communion services through the week.  For details see our Services page.

Peterborough Male Voice Choir

The male voice choir, along with Peterborough Voices (women's choir) and Peterborough Youth Choir, now rehearse each week at St Mary's. Men: Monday. Women: Tuesday. Youth: Wednesday.  If you're interested in getting involved visit their website for contact details.

Peterborough Community Gospel Choir

For a different style of singing why not look at Gospel singing. The Peterborough Community Gospel Choir rehearse every Thursday night 7.30pm at St Mary's.  If you're interested then visit their website for more information.

HALL & ROOM HIRE
Do you have an event or ongoing activity then why not hire  one of our halls or meeting rooms? All at competitive rates.

We have a modern building with full facilities located near to the centre of Peterborough.  Good access is available both for cars and those on foot.  Full provision is made for the disabled with entrance ramps, wide doorways, a lift and toilets.

In addition to the Church and Chapel there are two function rooms with catering and other smaller rooms suitable for meetings.  Go to the Centre page for further information on room hire.

The clergy are always available to help you with matters of a personal, spiritual or moral nature.  The Ministry of Reconciliation (Confession) is available on request.  The clergy will gladly respond to requests for the sacrament at home, or for hospital visits.

Please contact Michael our vicar for all enquiries about Baptisms, Banns, Weddings and  Funerals.  Preparation for Confirmation for adults and children is available at certain times of year, please ask for details.  Information on fees for certain services can be found here.

We have just published the second edition of our new magazine. This is now available at Church for £1 PER COPY. Please BUY ONE GIVE ONE FREE. Pay £2 to give a copy away free to the local community. 20th Anniversary

 

 

We are celebrating the 20th anniversary since the opening of our new church and 150 years since the start of services in the old church. Bishop Donald, the Mayor and many other guests attended a special service to mark these events and at which the Bishop consecrated the church.  Click here to see the pictures.

Help for Heroes

Men's Breakfast raises £255 for Help for Heroes. Many thanks to all who came and donated. Also to Mike and Alan for the talk and presentation.

Open The Book

St Mary's are part of the "Open the Book" programme, taking the story of the Bible to children their primary years.  To learn more on what it's about click here.

 

Street Pastors

St Mary's the base for Peterborough's Street Pastors. This is a national scheme providing a Church response to urban problems and engaging with people on the streets in the night time economy. To understand more about they do click here.

 

Fairtrade

Traidcraft - Fighting Poverty Through Trade

St Mary's supports Fairtrade.  We have a Traidcraft stall the first Sunday of every month after the 10.00am service.

The next Archdeacon of Oakham is to be Canon Gordon Steele, who is currently Vicar of St John the Baptist, Peterborough. He will succeed the Ven. David Painter who retired at the end of October.  Click here to read about Gordon and his appointment.
